Dear Club Members and Friends,
We had another great meeting last night, with our guest speakers providing compelling updates on the status of homelessness issues in our area. Thanks to our program guest speakers Lisa Halverstadt, Senior Investigative Reporter for Voice of San Diego, and Drew Moser, Executive Director for the Lucky Duck Foundation. Thanks also to San Diego City Councilmember Stephen Whitburn, who joined us for our meeting after hearing about our program agenda from one of our club members. The knowledge and passion of each of these speakers was inspirational and the discussions were very engaging. Dear Club Members and Friends,
Please join us for our monthly club meeting, via Zoom, on Thursday, April 27th starting at 6:00pm. Our meeting program will focus on homelessness issues in our county. Our first guest speaker will be Lisa Halverstadt, a senior investigative reporter for Voice of San Diego, who has reported extensively on the region’s homelessness, behavioral health and housing crises. She has produced high-impact investigations on topics including San Diego’s homelessness response, city real estate scandals and transit system fare enforcement that inspired change and reframed local policy debates. Lisa joined VOSD in 2012 and is board president of the San Diego Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. We will also have a representative from the Lucky Duck Foundation who will present updates on programs to help alleviate the suffering of San Diego County’s homeless population. You can view the tentative agenda HERE.
