On our agenda we will have an endorsement vote for Superior Court Judge, Office 22
Steve Miller Born in San Diego to a family dedicated to protecting and serving our community. Followed in the family career as a criminal prosecutor.
Trial Experience That Counts
Over 30 years of experience as a prosecutor, starting with writing briefs for the Attorney General Office in Los Angeles, then prosecuting criminal cases for the San Diego City Attorney’s Office. Built a career preparing to be an independent jurist, having prosecuted cases ranging from drug smuggling, alien trafficking, mail fraud, gangs, money laundering, home invasions, bank robberies, and kidnapping.
Prosecuted one of the largest counterfeit currency cases in this nation. Shut down numerous mail theft rings, alien smuggling rings, drug smuggling rings, and identity theft rings. Prosecuted an individual who defrauded the American Red Cross by falsely claiming his wife had died in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. Prosecuted a man who set fire to the Cleveland National Forest. Prosecuted the first interstate stalking case in our federal district.
Return to Justice. Each Judge is responsible for maintaining the public’s confidence. That confidence is built on the foundation of legal experience, rooted in extensive trial practice across a wide range of legal issues /cases. Trial experience ranging from minor traffic tickets to homicide.
Appellate Experience
Has handled over 100 appeals while serving as a federal prosecutor, and was trial and appellate counsel in over a dozen published opinions. While serving as a federal prosecutor, he was appointed as Special Deputy Attorney, prosecuting violent recidivists in San Diego Superior Court.
Served as an instructor of Trial Advocacy in the National College of District Attorney’s, and authored a nationally published article on federal identity theft law.
Independence
The essential foundation of the law is common sense. A Judge must never forget each case involves real life events that affect real people. No matter how large or small a case appears, the Judge should ensure each individual’s rights are upheld and preserved as He follows the laws of the land.
A Judge must assure, our system of justice remains the best in the world. The public must leave the court knowing they were given a fair and impartial hearing, and most importantly, they were treated with respect
Alana Robinson Alana Robinson has been a federal prosecutor since 1990. She served as the leader of the federal prosecutor’s office for San Diego and Imperial Counties from February 2017 to November 2017, and has held almost every leadership position for her organization since 2003. Throughout her career, she has been entrusted with increasing responsibility due to her outstanding exercise of prosecutorial discretion, judgment, analytical abilities, and interpersonal skills.
Ms. Robinson has tried many cases involving a wide variety of crimes, including drug trafficking, money laundering, firearms trafficking, manslaughter, child endangerment, bank robbery, exportation of defense articles, and human smuggling among other offenses. She has extensive experience prosecuting Mexican cartels, outlaw motorcycle gangs, and other criminal organizations. Because of her decades of trial and litigation experience, Ms. Robinson has taught trial advocacy courses at the National Advocacy Center for over 15 years.
Her love of teaching and children has called her to volunteer to teach fifth grade students at underserved communities through Project LEAD (Legal Education and Decision-making). Ms. Robinson also volunteers to teach first graders at her local church. She has long been involved in the community, volunteering as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and as a parent volunteer at our local schools.

Del Mar Go Team Kickoff Event on January 26th
A message from Wayne Dernetz – Del Mar Go Team Lead:
Our Kickoff Event is on January 26th, less than two weeks away. I hope you have it on your calendars and will attend. We have important organizing work to do on that date – reviewing our GO Team policies and guidelines; list of candidates for the various offices; distributing canvassing lists, maps and door hangers; reviewing new election procedures, voter registration, and mail-in ballot applications. And, we’ll be hearing from a few key candidates (including Terra Lawson-Remer and Olga Diaz, both seeking nomination for the 3rd District Board of Supervisors).
The Kickoff begins at 3:30pm and concludes at 6pm. We’ll have light snacks and beverages to keep our energy up. Candidates will speak beginning about 5pm and we will be finished at or before 6pm. Please try to come a few minutes early (doors open at 3:00pm) so we can begin on schedule. And if you cannot make it, we’ll understand, and will get your materials to you in the few before the canvassing begins. But, please RSVP “regrets only” by reply email, so we have an approximate number of attendees. I will distribute an agenda with a further update next weekend.
