One order of Club business to be addressed will be election of Club officers. Last week, our club Executive Board voted to appoint Dwight Worden, Del Mar former Mayor and current City Councilmember, to fill the vacant position of Club President for the remaining term thru October 2023. Ken Burtt, in accordance with his responsibilities as Executive VP, has been temporarily acting in this role since our former Club President stepped aside to focus on health issues. Our Club Bylaws call for this appointment to be ratified by our members by vote during our next meeting. Two other officer positions, Executive VP and Treasurer, are also due this month for election to a new two-year term. As noted above, the Executive VP position is currently held by Ken Burtt, who is also Club Communications Director. The Club Treasurer position is held by Deborah Currier, Club co-founder and former Club Secretary. Both of these officers are happy to serve another term if re-elected. However, nominations for other candidates for these positions, as well as the Club President position, are welcome. If you would like to nominate a different candidate please submit the details by email to torreypinesdems@gmail.com. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor prior to the meeting vote, which will be by secret ballot. If you would like to learn more about our Club elected officer positions and their duties, you can read about them in Article 6 of our Club Bylaws HERE.

We look forward to seeing you again!

In solidarity,
Ken Burtt
Acting President
