Dear Club Members and Friends,
Terra Lawson-Remer Canvassing Kickoff on December 9th
Filing deadline is around the corner and this race will be the toughest race in the 2024 election cycle. We have successfully defended District 4 by electing Monica Montgomery Steppe but Republicans are ready to throw millions of dollars to get their candidate Trump Republican Mayor Kevin Faulconer. They have the money we have the grassroots people power.
Will you join us as we launch our canvass kickoff on December 9th to protect our progress?
Never knocked on doors before? No problem! We provide training, materials, and walk partners – so give it a try!

Team Terra volunteers are dropping off yard signs all across the district. Since redistricting changed HALF of all District 3 voters, we have a lot of work to do to raise my name ID amount our neighbors in the new portions of the district. This is where you come in – can you or a friend help us blanket lawns throughout our district in yard signs?
Dear Club Members and Friends,
We had a great club meeting Thursday evening and we thank all those who attended. Special thanks to our program presenters. Wayne Dernetz and Marilee McLean outlined the great work done by our local Grassroots Organizing (GO) Teams. Go Team canvassing of Democratic voters has been shown to increase Democratic voter turnout by 20%. If you would like to learn more about the Go Teams and how you can help, click HERE, and please see the article below for specific information about the Del Mar and Solana Beach Go Teams.
Thanks also to our Club President Dwight Worden who presented interesting information on the 12 ballot measures that have qualified for the 2024 statewide ballot- 2 measures on the March ballot and 10 on the November ballot. Dozens more are in various stages of processing and may or may not qualify to be added to the November ballot.
In Club Business during the meeting, our members voted unanimously to re-elect Club President Dwight Worden and Club Secretary Phil Currier for additional two-year terms.
We will have our traditional holiday break in monthly meetings during November and December, and our next scheduled regular monthly meeting will be January 25th, 2024. Club members- Please watch your email for news about our annual Holiday Party in December.
Dear Club Members and Friends,
Please join us for our Club meeting this month on Thursday, October 26th at 6:00pm (via Zoom). You can view the preliminary agenda HERE. Our program this month will feature Club president Dwight Worden leading a discussion on upcoming ballot measures. Wayne Dernetz, former Club president and current Del Mar Go Team leader, will also present information on the Go Team “Get Out the Vote” canvassing efforts.
One order of Club business to be addressed will be election of Club officers. Two officer positions, President and Secretary, are due this month for election to a new two-year term. The Club President position is currently held by Dwight Worden and the Club Secretary position is currently held by Phil Currier. Both of these officers are happy to serve another term if re-elected. However, nominations for other candidates for these positions are welcome. If you would like to nominate a different candidate please submit the details by email to torreypinesdems@gmail.com. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor prior to the meeting vote. If you would like to learn more about our Club elected officer positions and their duties, you can read about them in Article 6 of our Club Bylaws HERE.
TPDC Interest Survey
Thanks to all those who submitted responses for our TPDC Interest Survey, You can view a summary of the responses HERE. Many of you noted that you would prefer a “hybrid” format for our monthly Club meetings, where we can meet personally in a meeting room and still have remote access through Zoom for other members and guests. The Club E-Board is actively exploring new meeting room venues along with technology options for remote Zoom access, and we hope to launch hybrid meetings in 2024 after our November/December holiday break.
